Vintage CZECH/BOHEMIAN Purple Glass Gold Gilt & Enameled Bohemian 13 Piece Tea

  
This is magnificent Czech/Bohemian Moser PURPLE glass tea set service consisting of 13 pieces of beautiful hand painted enamel and gold floral design on beautiful purple glass. Absolutely stunning, highest quality 13 piece vintage Bohemian glass tea set, bought in Czechoslovakia in the 1970's, and cabinet stored ever since. The service is in the hard to find, and very desirable purple glass, which is made by adding gold to the mix, the color is soft, and very translucent. The service is in EXCELLENT vintage condition without chips, cracks and flea bites. There is very, very, very minimal wear to the gold, in fact, I cannot detect any. There is great gold gilt detail and hand painted floral designs that look like dogwoods; white with pink/purple highlights and green on the leaves. The set has a teapot with lid, a sugar basin with lid, a milk jug, and four demitasse cup & saucer sets. Every piece of the service is lavish with decoration, the set is embellished to the very finals of the lids; there is deep and heavy flat gilding, laid impasto gilt swirls, heavily enameled impasto floral swags in pastel colors, this is ornate and very precious. The teapot has a total height 8.25" and 7" wide. The sugar bowl is 5.5" tall and has a width of 5". The milk jug is 6.5 inches tall and 5 inches from spout to handle.

The height of cups is 2.5", and 3" wide. The diameter of the saucers is 4.25. There is some slight wear to the gold. The service is not suitable for hot drinks.

This is the most beautiful tea set, it would be lovely for special occasions (though I do not think you should put boiling water into the pot, but use it as a server). It would also be perfect for display in a cabinet as an example of the finest Bohemian glass, either way this is a rare and lovely set that would grace the finest home.
