Up for your consideration is a very fine Meiji-era Japanese tea set with a moriage (raised enamel) design, c 1880s. This set is worthy of examination, as it presents some of the finest moriage you are likely to see. This technique is common among Nippon works, but not at this level of craftsmanship or quality. The piece are signed in goso blue on the underside, a color associated with Imperial quality works. The set is for two, and includes a teapot, creamer, lidded sugar, and a pair of tea cups and saucers.

Two extra plates are included. The teapot measures 7.5" in diameter, and about 4" tall. There is a chip to the interior of the lid, that does not show when the lid is in place. There are four raised enamel beads (3 pink ones on the the handle, and 1 green one on the finial), and a small loss of raised enamel to the underside of the tip of the spout. The lidded sugar has no chips or cracks, but loss to 5 pink beads on the handles, and one green one to the finial.

It measures 6" wide and about 3" tall. The creamer has a loss to two beads on the handle, and is 4.75" wide and 2.75" tall.

The four underplates are 5.5 in diameter, and one plate has a very small loss white piping in the rim (1/16 of an inch), the other three are fine. The two tea cups are also in excellent condition, without concerns. In the grand scheme of things, the condition of this set is very good, and the raised enamel loss in quite minor when one considers how ornate these pieces are. The set exceptionally presents well. This quote is for the Continental U.
