Antique samovars are often displayed due to their quality workmanship. So it is not unusual that Gzhel would have got into the act and made beautifully decorated ceramic samovars for display. The form of the samovar is preserved with such details as the grips and steam valve on the cover, the spigot (or key) and even the matching teapot which sits atop and is, in real life, the source of the tea brew.

This great porcelain piece has bright multicolor flowers with hand. Factory marks are on the bottom-all of them under the glaze, stamped in dark olive color for Ghzel. Factory porcelain, located under the duck, used between 1972 and 1986. No chips, cracks, repairs or restoration.

The first written mention of Gzhel dates back to 1339, and from the 1770-80s, Gzhel had become the centre of artistic majolica manufacture in. As all Gzhel works this charming porcelain samovar was first created in a plaster form being cast from liquid porcelain mass. After the first burning the form was painted and covered with the gold.
