New Hall Porcelain Tea Set Teapot Cobalt & Gold Regency Tea Set RARE Georgian

  

Antique New Hall Cobalt and gold tea set dating to the late 18th century/early 19th century. The tea set is beautifully decorated with a deep border of Mazarin blue lozenges and ornate gold leaves, berries and swags.

The lids of the teapot and sucriere have a oval swirled pointed finial and there is an ornate gilded leafy pattern to the rims of the boat shaped teapot, sucriere and creamer. The cups have an internal central medallion and the saucers do not have an indent to sit the cups into. The tea set is made from a hard paste porcelain that has a slightly greyish hue and is unmarked aside from the pattern number 555 to the larger pieces.

None of the cups and saucers are marked in this way having only what I believe to be a workmans mark in the shape of a tick. After extensive research I was positive that this tea set was made by New Hall and although this pattern has been incorrectly described in a book by Anthony de Saye Hutton, I have since had my hunch confirmed by a leading expert of New Hall pottery that this set is indeed rare and previously undocumented New Hall pattern. The tea set is in fine antique condition and consists of the following pieces. Small chip to inside lip of sucriere. All other pieces in excellent undamaged condition and gilding still very good.
