ANTIQUE MINTON PINK COCKATRICE BREAKFAST SET / TEA SET TEAPOT & STAND. Made in the 1880s this set is a very desirable and highly sought after ANTIQUE tea set.

The tea set is in superb condition considering it is about 150 years old. There is a flea bite nick to the enamel on one of the side plates. There is also some age related clean crazing to one of the plates. Neither of these effect use or is visible when on display. The set is highly decorated with HAND PAINTED and enameled decorations of pink COCKATRICE among flowers and foliage.

It is truly breath taking. As well as the printed back stamp the items also have the impressed MINTON with a crown underneath it. The cups are in a very unusual large size in comparison to the usual size COCKATRICE.

Please see pictures of two size cups together to make comparison. Six breakfast / tea cups. Each individual piece is highlighted with enameled highlights. The cups measure 3 3/4" in diameter and they are 2 1/2" high, the saucers measure 6 1/4" in diameter and the The plates are about 6 3/4" in diameter approximately.

The cup has been pictured with the ordinary tea cup to show the difference in size. I believe the breakfast cups to be very rare and as such this tea set is very hard to come by in this lovely near perfect condition.
