All the bottom of the pieces has been polished by the store before they were out of the door. Only high quality porcelain could receive such service by the stores which sell them. The bottoms are so smooth that they will not scratch if you slide them on your wood or stone surface. It's absolutely a plus. Feel them with your fingers and compare them with the porcelain you own at your home.
