This week Chamberlain Antiques is pleased to offer over 200 lots of fine Asian antiques and works of art. Included in the sale is a old private collection of Chinese and Japanese cloisonne, a private collection of snuff bottles collected by a diplomat who worked in China in the 1930's, as well as many other interesting examples of porcelain, bronze, and jade. This listing is for an exceptional Japanese cloisonne tea set dating to the Meiji period.
Included in the set is a teapot, creamer, covered sugar, four saucers, and four footed cups. Each piece is decorated in a matchign design of various roundels on a pinwheel wired ground. The cups are unusual as they stand on tall splayed feet. The pot stands 5.2 inches tall, the sugar stands 4.75 inches tall, the creamer 4.25 inches, each cup 2.5 inches tall, and each saucer measures 5.4 inches across. Condition overall of the set is very good with only a small dent on the cover of the pot.All the other pieces appear to be very good. In addition, all questions must be asked at least 12 hours prior to a lot closing.
