From Crate and Barrel's web site: Olaf Hajek was chosen as the August Artist to produce a design for the 50th Anniversary Arzberg Teapot. With a fine-art sensibility, Olafs complex botanicals provide an elegant contradiction to the powerful simplicity of the Bauhaus-inspired Arzberg teapot. Olaf rarely paints real flowers, preferring instead his imaginative'self-created' flowers as'strong symbols for birth and death, beauty and poison and the diversity of nature. Introducing elements such as animals, insects, thorns, and water to his fantastical florals, he enthusiastically explores a'whole circle of life!
