BELEEK Harp Shamrock, Black Mark, Vintage

  

Belleek porcelain is a rich part of Ireland's culture and history. Exquisitely crafted, this tea set is ivory coloured eggshell porcelain with a pale yellow lusterware inside. Shaped like a shamrock, the sides are shell covered and the handles are harps. And of course, the iconic green shamrocks grace each piece. This pattern was designed in the 1880s by Frederick Slater to portray the essence of Ireland.

He chose three elements, Shells to illustrate the island of Ireland, Harps to portray its people and culture and Shamrocks representing its patron, Saint Patrick. Except for the damage listed below, the majority of the set is in excellent condition. Would also make a great display set for a collector! Vintage and antique items are seldom 100% perfect; there will be imperfections from age and use. I try very hard to describe my items accurately.

20.5 cm long x 14 cm wide x 13 cm tall (8¼" long x 5½" wide x 5 tall). There are some significant chips to the inside rim (not visible with lid on). Teacup, 7.5 cm wide x 6 cm tall (3" wide x 2¼" tall). 8 cm long x 5 cm wide x 3 cm tall (3¼" long x 2" wide x 1¼ tall). 1 with a brown inner ring and one plain.

7 cm wide x 8 cm tall (2¾" wide x 3¼" tall). The rubber that held the stoppers in has deteriorated with age and left a stain on one of the shakers. The previous owner had wrapped them with tape to keep them in. 9 cm wide x 6 cm tall (3½" wide x 2¼" tall). A piece approximately 3 x 2 cm has been glued back in.

I use reclaimed boxes and environmentally friendly packing peanuts that are biodegradable. For easy disposable run water over them in your sink, they will dissolve in water, or you can toss them into your compost bin (they are made of starch). Wherever possible, I will use reclaimed bubble wrap as well. Local pick-up available in the Toronto area.
