Welcome to William Sharpe Antiques. Here today for your consideration we have this delightful sterling silver tea set, made by Fenton, Russel & Co of Birmingham, C-1937. Each piece of this stunning set sits on four ball feet, bulges and tapers at the middle and finishes at the rim in a pie-crust edge. The teapot features ebonised timber handle and a replacement ebony finial. The sugar and creamer feature fine silver handles to mimic the teapot.
The design is plain throughout, typical of Art Deco styling, making this piece suitable for most applications. The condition of this set is good overall.
The handle of the teapot is tight, but is missing paint in some sections. There is evidence of impact to one foot of both the teapot and creamer, which has bowed the silver slightly (it is possible this is also a consequence of attaching the feet at construction). There are pin-pricks throughout each piece consistent with age and use. The teapot measures approximately 28cm handle to spout and stands in at approximately 14cm tall. Unpacked, it weighs in at 589gms.
The sugar bowl measures in at 18cm handle-to-handle and stands approximately 8cm tall. Unpacked, it weighs in at 233gms. The creamer measures in at approximately 14cm handle to spout and stands in at 9cm tall. Unpacked, it weighs in at 144gms. Combined, the set weighs in at 966gms unpacked.
