Hughes (Fenton) Ltd, in Staffordshire England, a tea set for five of delicate fine bone china. A truly rare set thats been in our family since the 1930s. Individual pieces by Hughes pop up here and there; far rarer is a complete, table-ready set. The back-stamp indicates that the pieces were manufactured between 1914 and 1941. The Set: Delicate and dainty, the set includes 5 cups (3 tall), 6 saucers, one lidded teapot and one creamer, which can rest on the extra saucer.
Design: Exquisite hand painted floral design with green accents on the handles. Condition: The teapot appears yellower than the cups but as glazed bone china does not discolor over time, it has always been this way. There are no chips, cracks or crazing, other than one cup which has a vertical crack about 1/2 down from the rim of one cup. The insides of some of the cups are discolored from tea (see photo), but have been thorough washed by hand in hot soapy water.
We didnt try bleach or Bar Keepers Friend, which may (or may not) remove the discoloration. The item "Vintage 1930 E. Hughes Fenton Paladin Bone China Tea Set Teapot England Art Deco" is in sale since Wednesday, September 4, 2019.
