We are extremely pleased to offer this exquisite and spectacular Chinese export silver tea set dating to the 19th century. Included in the set is the covered teapot, covered sugar, and handled creamer, each made in melon form.
The attention to detail throughout the set is exceptional with each lobed section decorated with various scenes done in deep relief. The handles made in branch form with applied leaves where they meet the body and stem form finials applied to both covers.
The interior of all three are finished with rich gilt wash and are marked on the underside with HC, most likely standing for Hung Chong. The teapot measures 7.75 inches (19.75cm) across including handle and spout, the covered sugar measuring 5.5 inches (14cm) across the handles, and the creamer measuring 4.5 inches across. The combined weight of the set is 870 grams and is in excellent overall condition. Pictures absolutely do not do this set justice. In addition, all questions must be asked at least 12 hours prior to a lot closing.
This allows us time to inspect the item and take additional photos if needed. Many of the items we sell are well over 100 years old.
Inherently, these items will have some minor or light wear. Any major flaws and damages ie. Chips or cracks will be clearly disclosed in the item description.
