Royal Doulton china tea set lilac & black w oranges teapot cr sug 6 cups plates
Offered is this lovely porcelain china tea set made in England by Royal Doulton. The set is comprised of a teapot, cream pitcher, covered sugar bowl, 6 tea plates, and 6 cups and saucers. The color is pastel purple, which we think of as lilac or lavender. The handles, rims and spout are colored black. A footed compote of oranges decorates the front of each piece and the rim of the plates and saucers.
This set has an Art Deco flavor that causes us to believe it was made in the 1920s or 30s. This is a rare find. The teapot stands about 4 inches tall (10 cm) to the top of the finial. It measures 8.25 inches (21 cm) from handle to spout.
The teapot will hold 20 ounces. The creamer stands 2.25 inches high (6 cm). The sugar bowl stands about 3 inches high (7.5 cm) to the top of the finial. The tea plates measure 8 inches in diameter (20.5 cm). The saucers measure 5.5 inches (14 cm). The footed cups stand 2.25 inches high (6 cm) and measure 3.5 inches in diameter (9 cm).The cups will hold 6 ounces of hot tea or coffee. This set is in very good used condition. No chips or cracks that we have observed.
The sugar lid has suffered some damage to the finish, as you can see in the last photo. The item will be insured.
