1929 PYREX CORNING TEAPOT 3pc set Tea Pot 16 Tray 706 Clear Etched Glass CARDER

  

Vintage Rare Almost Antique Preowned Lightly Used Item in Excellent Condition. There are no chips or cracks in any of the 3 pieces. There is one scratch on the side of the tea pot.

The scratch measures about 1.5 in length. Scratch is very faint and I didn't notice until under my lighting when taking photos.

Please note that the spout of tea pot feels sharp this is the how the item was made and this is not a chip also the rim of the lid feels sharp this is from the etching/engraving and is not a defect. 1921 - 1936 PYREX Corning Ware 3 piece TEAPOT set. Tea Pot Pyrex item #16, matching Teapot Tray item #706 marked in handle, plate is also stamped with a large #1 on the bottom. The lid reads Corning Pyrex REG U.

And does not have an item number. This tea pot set was designed by English Designer Frederick Carder.

Peter A Eick was hired to engrave the Pyrex teapots in 1919. By 1931 Corning began to phase out the original Pyrex teapots in favor a new design without Spouts.

Teapots were made transparent so you could see when the tea was the right strength and you always knew how much was in the pot. Unlike most Pyrex products, these early teapots were not machine-made. This information was found on the Corning Museum of Glass website. Tea pot, lid, & plate feature a matching engraved floral design.

I have also contacted the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning NY and they do not have one like this on display in their collection. Tea Pot Measures 5.5" tall (measured to top of spout) Height sitting on plate with lid on is about 7" and is about 9.5 in total length. Opening is 3.25 in diameter.

Teapot plate measures 7 in diameter measured from handle to handle. Tea pot holds 6 cups.
